Kingsdown CD Release Party (Review)

After watching “Get Him to the Greek,” I’ve had a craving for a good rock show and local bands: Benjamin Del Shreve, EKG, and Kingsdown filled that craving Saturday night.
Two great acts, Benjamin Del Shreve and EKG, opened for Kingsdown at the show.
Benjamin Del Shreve from Fayetteville used their attitude (had to be there or be a fan) to warm up the crowd with some powerpop. I would put “Creekwater” as my top performance from BDS at the during their set. Luckily, for you who missed them, Benjamin Del Shreve will be returning to host their CD Release party – July 24th at Sticky Fingerz!
Playing next was Little Rock band EKG. Their energetic music combines the genres of pop, rock and rap, what they label “Popcrunk” They had some technical difficulties, but that didn’t stop them from giving a crunk performance that had everyone bopping their heads.
It was then time for the stars of the show, Kingsdown, to rock the house. In the words of Justin Kroger ( EKG Vocalist) “They killed it! they brought everything they had and just owned the show!” Indeed they killed it, rocking Rev Room with songs from their new self-titled album “Kingsdown.” The entire band was great and energtic, but I couldn’t help but notice the stage presence of lead vocalist Dwain Roark. He moved around stage with power and energy of a bull in a rodeo until they exited from stage with my favorite Kingsdown song, “Callin’ Everybody.” If you have not already, pick up copy of their debut album “Kingsdown.”
